Eva Mendes has spoken out about the guilt she feels when trying to balance her home and work life.
The 43-year-old actress, who has daughters Esmerelda, three, and 16-month-old Amada with Ryan Gosling, has confessed that she often feels guilty about being a working mother.
‘Oh my God, nobody warns you about the guilt that you feel when you do work,’ she told E! News. ‘I don’t know how I find balance, because I think it is like a day to day kind of struggle, you know?’
The mum-of-two first started dating baby daddy Ryan in 2011 after they met on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines.
And although she stressed the importance of working mothers taking time to enjoy their own interests, she admitted that the feeling of guilt is something that is unlikely to go away completely: ‘I’m all for obviously taking care of myself… but that guilt… It’s like, “Ugh, this is gonna be there forever now.”‘
She also said that when it comes to her eldest’s fashion sense, she embraces all her sartorial choices – as long as she feels comfortable. And if that means jammies all day everyday, then that’s just what it is.
And while the youngest might be a bit small to make such bold fashion choices, Mendes says her two girls are already very different people – but still absolute ‘angels’ of course.
